Earned 2020
The Creative Commons course for Librarians connected me with
some great resources, and it was a lot of fun to work with
other MLIS grads to learn more about Copyright law, Open
Access, Open Educational Resources, and the licenses that
Creative Commons offers.
The link below will open my webpage describing what I learned
in the course. I was also able to experiment with some JS
tools that were unfamiliar with me, including Timeline JS and
Reveal JS, that helped me to create some very interesting
slideshows (if I do say so myself).
Github
Link to Repository
Posting projects to GitHub helps keep me motivated!
Since I learned about GitHub and was able to build a portfolio
there, I have been very motivated to continue to learn. It's
also given me a place to share information from my
MLIS-related studies, which encourages me to learn more about
web development... and the repo grows, one project at a time.
XML/RDB/Metadata
An iSchool Assignment
My class on metadata and relational databases was one of my
favorites.
I didn't have much experience with code, and this class was a
real eye-opener for me. I'm still proud of that project, so I
linked it below.
Data with Python
Jupyter Notebook
Python was the first language that helped me to face data
challenges.
Jupyter Notebooks was intimidating at first, but I learned a
lot about working with data, and about Pandas and Python. This
link will take you to a Jupyter Notebook file that I saved as
a webpage, and you can see that I also used numpy, matplotlib
and seaborn.
Club Site
for Chicago Wing Chun
I value my time studying Wing Chun, and the club in Chicago is
a great group.
The Chicago Wing Chun Gung Fu Club was founded by Sifu Ken
Harnish, student of Sifu Ho Kam Ming, to promote Wing Chun. It
is now continued by students of both Sifu Ken Harnish and Sifu
Ho Kam Ming. They are a group of Wing Chun enthusiasts that
get together to train, share, and learn in a respectful
environment. This website was one of my first significant
projects, and I enjoyed dusting off my Photoshop skills, too,
to resurrect the old club logo.
